Is it really justice?

"If we continue to follow history and implement it in the present, I believe we are truly heading for some major disaster somewhere!"
This isn't some quote from somewhere which I have picked up. It is something I truly believe in. It refers to the whole reservation saga surrounding us today.
In today's so called modern era, the idea of a caste based reservation system seems to be foolish! It means that we are not one, we never were one and will never be one big Indian society! Is that not similar to racism? If we unequivocally reject racism, then why support this? And if we can all be one (eg. Supporting Team India in a cricket match); then why divide us for things like education? Shouldn't there be an equal opportunity?
So do I mean that we get rid of reservations all together? NO! What I am trying to say is that we should have reservations; but for the people who really need them the most!
eg. The economically backward.
About the existing reservations, why not "PHASE THEM OUT" instead of continuously phasing in more and more reservations?
eg. If person A from a caste X has availed of the reservation policy(caste based), becomes well to do, then why should his/her children continue to have the same privileges?
So, are we truly doing the nation justice by this caste based system of reservations?
